I came to check to see if the QotD was any good, and as I glanced over Vox's most popular tag (for posts) cloud, I wondered: "Why so many Arashi fans on Vox?"  I already knew of two or three Arashi-centric blogs before seeing that; obviously there are more Arashi fans than I thought there were here if it's a top tag.  Or maybe it's a coincidence?  Arashi's gearing up for something right now (I think they released an album last month) so those few blogs are just tagging "Arashi" and the ilk like crazy.  Eh... some things are just better left alone.  So long!

D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths

Holy crap, I remember this book!  It was probably the first one ever to get me into Greek mythology, if not one of the first.  It was before I graduated into the more "adult" books on the subject, and I eventually realized that Gaia pretty much got it on with her son Ouranos (the sky), and her gigantic son/grandson Cronus castrated his father/brother, throwing his testicles into the sea to form Aphrodite (probably the weirdest mythological thing I've ever read).  Cronus bumped uglies with his sister/niece, swallowing each child she bore in fear that the same fate would befall him, until he was tricked with a swallowing a rock/rock.  And we all know Zeus, his son/great nephew, finally overthrew him and locked him up instead of cutting off his balls, ruling wisely, marrying his sister/cousin Hera, and bedding and raping various distant relatives and others as a god, as various animals (not all at once, or maybe!), or as golden light.

And check out Helios driving the chariot in that cover over there: the horses look so worried and anxious!  "Nnnnnyeah I'm so worried, Pestilence!  We just might sunburn these kind folk!"  "Nnnnnnyeah!"  "Houyhnhnm!"  "That centaur down there looks mighty fine. [Everyone stares, including Helios] DON'T JUDGE ME!!!!"
